Spring's Hottest Fashion Trends

Although we're still freezing our buns off, it's never too early (and always fun) to start shopping for spring and summer looks. Especially with the anticipation of a warm weather spring break destination. The thought of walking out the door in a sundress and sandals has me literally checking my Apple weather app twice a day.  So with that in mind, I’ve gathered and researched many of the top spring/summer fashion trends you’ll see in 2022.  Even if cutouts and belly tops aren’t your thing, there's a trend out there for everyone.

BOLD BRIGHT SHADES

Bold, bright shades are one of the core trends for spring 2022, so get ready to inject your wardrobe with a dose of color fun. The key buys: hot pink, lime green, orange, purple, yellow. Don’t let this trend intimidate you. The truth is it’s less about the color you choose and more about how you style it. Head to toe color blocking is a forward and stylish way to test the trend. Try pairing blazers and trousers in bright colors rather than the oh-so-safe neutrals (guilty of this one). I’ll jump into the color wheel if you jump with me. Nothing like good old fashion peer pressure to manipulate you into typing a new style trend.

Bold coral color never disappoints.

OVERSIZED BLAZERS AND JACKETS

This spring, expect to see jackets in bright colors and oversized cuts. This look continues to dominate, especially when layered over more form-fitting tops. Your base layers should be more fitted and definitely tucked. This promotes a more polished look. Try combining an oversized blazer with another on style trend; pair with wide leg trousers, over a mini skirt or satin dress (both trending for spring). Personally, I’m going to try the bold color trend with an oversized pant suit to create a stylish color block look. I’ll look right off the Paris runway! Sure I’m 5 inches too short but hey, a girl can dream.

Oversized blazer trend can be worn casually or over a dress!

LATE 90’s STYLES

Before you start frosting your tips and blasting Green Day, there are a few 90’s trends I recommend you stay clear of. There should be no tying a flannel around your waist, wearing branded gear like Tommy Filfigure (As if!) or sporting a tube top. Okay? Now that we have that out of the way, feel free to try trends like bubble gum tones, love rise denim (don’t worry high waisted is still here) and preppy, plaid skirt suits. Are you having a Twin Peaks experience? Me too.  Instead of wearing slouchy jeans with a grungy oversized plaid shirt, consider teaming the now popular baggy denim with a sleeker bodysuit. And if you’re all about forgetting this decade entirely, just remember, as with all fashion trends, this too shall pass.

ALL WHITE

No coaxing me into this trend. I’ve always been a head-to-toe white sort of a gal. It’s not surprising that white is on trend for the spring/summer season, it's a classic. Fabric wise, you can choose anything: satin, linen, den im. My advice is to try and keep it timeless and sophisticated. Nothing says warm temps like being drenched in white.

PUFF STYLES

This is one I believe anyone can add to the style arsenal. Be it dresses, shirt sleeves or bubble skirts, this is an ultra feminine trend that Audrey Hepburn would approve of. There's no denying this look feels romantic, adding a little something extra to your outfit with minimal effort.

If you’re like me,  you're going to want to add a couple of these (at least) to your spring wardrobe. Preparing your closet with the street style trends you want to try is a great way to anticipate warmer days ahead.
